Combat Shooting Targets

DESCRIPTION OF FIXED TARGETS

The fixed targets are designed to create the effect of an enemy or a hostage, hiding behind an obstruction, suddenly appearing in front of the trainee shooter. When activated by a central or local control the targets keep on appearing and disappearing for a certain preset duration. The total duration, for which the target will remain activated, i.e. it will go on appearing and disappearing, can be controlled from the Central Control Unit either manually or automatically. If the target is hit, the information is relayed up to the control station for indication, for further action or for recording of the score by a computer.  Different targets are designed and shaped to create the movements which a human enemy can make during a combat situation. These are as follows.

POP-UP TARGET TYPE PUT 2001

The Pop-Up Target type PUT 2001 is designed to create the effect of an enemy or a friend, hiding behind an obstruction, suddenly popping up to give an appearance to the shooter. In the REST position the target sheet mounted on the mechanism remains parallel to the ground with the face towards the sky totally covered by the obstruction. Upon activation the targets pops up to its full erect EXPOSED position to present the full front view to the shooter, remains in this position for a pre-set duration and then again goes back to the REST position for another pre-set duration. These actions of the target go on repeating as long as the control signal is maintained. Upon withdrawal of the control signal the target goes back to its REST position. Also if the target is hit during the EXPOSED position it immediately goes back to the REST position.

  SLICING TARGET TYPE SLT 2002

The Slicing Target type SLT 2002 is designed to create the effect of an enemy or a friend, hiding behind an obstruction, suddenly slicing up to give an appearance to the shooter. In the REST position the target sheet mounted on the mechanism remains parallel to the ground with the face towards horizon totally covered by the obstruction. Upon activation the targets slices up to its full erect EXPOSED position to present the full front view to the shooter, remains in this position for a pre-set duration and then again goes back to the REST position for another per-set duration. These actions of the target go on repeating as long as the control signal is maintained. Upon withdrawal of the control signal the target goes back to its REST position. Also if the target is hit during the EXPOSED it immediately goes back to the REST position.

TURNING TARGET TYPE TUT 2003

The Turning Target type TUT 2003 takes a 90º turn from its REST position to present a full front view to the shooter. In the REST state the target mounted on this mechanism takes an “Edge-on” position, i.e. only the edge of the target is visible to the shooter. Upon activation the target goes on turning by 90º to alternatively appear and disappear from the view of shooter. Upon withdrawal of the control signal or if the target is hit, the same resumes its REST position and stays there.

GRAPPLING TARGET TYPE GRT 2004

The Grappling Target type GRT 2004 is designed to give an appearance of two persons engaged in hand-to-hand fight. There are two target sheets mounted on this mechanism, one “friend” and one “enemy”. In the REST state both the targets take “Edge-on” position. Upon activation the targets first rotate by 90º and then onwards go on rotating by 360º, pause and again rotate, thus alternatively presenting full front view of the enemy partly covering behind the friend to the shooter. Upon withdrawal of the control signal or if the enemy target is hit the targets resume their REST position and stay there

HORIZONTALLY MOVING TARGET TYPE HMT 2005

The Horizontally Moving Target type HMT 2005 is designed to create the effect of an enemy or a friend moving horizontally to give an appearance on a window. The target sheet is mounted vertically on the frame and remains hidden behind a wall in the REST position. Upon activation the target moves horizontally to appear at the window, pause there for a pre-set duration and then again go back and stay hidden for another pre-set duration and continue to repeat the cycle. Upon withdrawal of the control signal or if the target is hit the same resumes its REST position and stays there.

VERTICALLY MOVING TARGET TYPE VMT 2006

The Vertically Moving Target type VMT 2006 is designed to create the effect of an enemy or a friend moving up to give an appearance on a ventilator. The target sheet is mounted vertically on the frame and remains hidden behind the wall below the ventilator in the REST position. Upon activation the target moves up vertically to appear at the ventilator, pause there for a pre-set duration and then again go back and stay hidden for another pre-set duration and repeat the cycle. Upon withdrawal of the control signal or if the target is hit the same resumes its REST position and stays there.

PEEPING TARGET TYPE PPT 2007

The Peeping Target type PPT 2007 is designed to create the effect of an enemy or a friend, hiding behind an obstruction, suddenly peeping out to give an appearance to the shooter. In the REST position the target sheet mounted on the mechanism remains hidden vertically behind the obstruction. Upon activation the target peeps out to EXPOSE partly to present the partial front view to the shooter, remains in this position for a pre-set duration and then again goes back to the REST position for another pre-set duration. This action for the target goes on repeating as long as the control signal in maintained. Upon withdrawal of the control signal the target goes back to its REST position. If the target is hit during the EXPOSED position it immediately falls forward to indicate as been killed.

HOOK MOVEMENT TARGET TYPE HOT 2008

The Hook Movement Target type HOT 2008 is designed to simulate a person suddenly approaching a door or a window from a hiding place to give an appearance. The frame of this target moves like a hinged door. In the REST, position the target is hidden behind one of the sidewalls perpendicular to the same. Upon activation the target swings towards the opening and takes a parallel position to present a full view to the shooter, remains in this position for a preset duration and then again goes back to the REST position for another pre-set duration. The actions of the target go on repeating as long as the control signal is maintained. Upon withdrawal of the control signal the target goes back to its REST position. Also if the target is hit during its EXPOSED position it immediately goes back to the REST position.

DROPPING TARGET TYPE DRT 2012

The Dropping Target type DRT 2012 is designed to create the effect of an enemy or a friend hiding on a tree, a wall or any elevated place, suddenly dropping in front of the shooter and then running away. The target is fixed at a height of about 5-6m and is to be activated with the help of a human sensor. As soon as the shooter, while moving along a lane, comes near the target, the human sensor senses his presence and subsequently relays the control signal to the electrical system of the target to activate the same. Upon activation the target drops in front of the shooter, remains standing for a few pre-settable seconds and then drops flat on the ground hiding behind the sand bags. The shooter is supposed to shoot the target during the period it is visible.

 PARA-SLIDING TARGET TYPE PST 2013

The Para-Sliding Target type PST 2013 is designed to create the effect of an enemy, hiding behind an obstruction on a certain level, suddenly sliding up or down by means of a rope, thus moving towards another hiding place at a different level. The target shall stop automatically on reaching the extreme end. The total span of travel of the target can be maximum 20m.
